Dcecelia.com, a hybrid portfolio website and industry blog for journalism students and recent grads, was launched in November of 2009 as a senior project at The College of Saint Rose.
The purpose of this blog is to share ideas, experiences and insights from one recent journalism grad to the many out there attempting to navigate the murky waters of today’s journalism industry. With increases in journalism school enrollment and concurrent decreases in the availability of journalism jobs, Dcecelia.com feels that this is a growing audience that needs all the help they can get.
This website was created using WordPress and the free Atahualpa Theme.
Dcecelia.com has an open invite out for guest bloggers, and anyone interested should contact d.ceceliamartinez [at] gmail [dot] com.
What people are saying about D. Cecelia:
- “Cecelia is not only insightful, but she is extremely creative and quite talented. [...] She is a natural leader among her peers. [...] Her articles are consistently well-researched, follow proper AP style, and they provide a balanced perspective. Her articles tend to exhibit all the markings of a great journalist. In addition, she actively participates in all forms of social media with respect to the profession. This is a great asset as we move towards more electronic forms of journalism. I have no doubt Cecelia will have a long and illustrious career as a journalist.”
Gina Luttrell, Professor of Communications, The College of Saint Rose
- “Cecelia [...] is a terrific writer and thinker, and surpasses her peers in both areas. She works well with others and has an uncanny ability to dig deeper into issues and emerge with new insights to offer herself and her peers. I highly recommend her and believe she will be a strong asset to any company.”
Karen McGrath, Professor, The College of Saint Rose
- “Cecelia is the definition of hard working, dedicated and passionate. She always had the drive to do more and did it at a higher level.”
Geoff Arbuckle, Executive Editor, The Chronicle at The College of Saint Rose
- “If I didn’t have you as my sensei I’d be so fucked.”
